hp estimate?

Default hp estimate?

ok i have a 1976 block sixty over with standard stroke and pistons. i have 351 windsor four barrel heads (stock) edlebrock preformer zr2 intake with holley 670 street avenger carb. cam is doug herbert. 490/512 lift i believe. not sure of the duration right now. i was told possibly 350-400 horse. but i dunno. just looking for sugestions

+1. MAYBE 275rwhp if everything on the motor is tuned perfectly and the stars and moon and everything is in line.

even if the heads/intake was hogged out to the max, it probably wouldn't make more then 280.


IDK who told you 350-400, but you should probably stop listening to them.

thanks guys. actually the guy that told me that was an old man. i didnt believe it either. but he claimed to be the 302 guru. haha i normally deal with chevy performance cause its cheaper for my drag cars. so i didnt know.

With a set of stock 4bbl heads and a set of stock 1976 pistons (which are probably 8:1 compression) you will be lucky to make 200 at the rear wheels.

Do some messaging on the heads and shave them to get your comp. ratio up. It will wake that thing right up. Or put some put some nice flat tops in it with the shaved heads. You need to get that ratio up to make any decent HP out of it.

by the time you shave the heads and port the crap out of the stock small ports and install larger valves for better performance, it'd be cheaper to buy a set of aluminum heads, IMO , I wouldn't waste time with stock cast iron oem heads unless you were under class racing rules
