Default 5.0 or 5.8?

So i am looking into getting a new mustang here in a few months and i want to got with a over head valve instead of the over head cam. Well i was wondering if it would be worth it to try and find a 5.8 and pay the little bit extra or should just stick with getting regular 5.0? Also what are the max numbers they are rated for in the stock form? I would be getting the 94-95 body style.. I guess i am just looking for a basic schooling in the 5.0/5.8 motors/cars.

well, considering the ONLY mustang since 79 that came with a 5.8, was the 95 Cobra R.... you should probably buy one that has a 302.

Unless you are buying a car that is already complete(meaning not a project), you should try to find something as close to stock as possible.

stock 351 is a waste because of the extra weight, weight of rotating assembly, slower revs. unless you're getting a 351w base to upgrade it with a better bottom end and a good top end....its a waste of time and money. stick with the 302 and build the top end/valvetrain.

302. A 3" main is a boat anchor.

302 cheaper all around. 351 is a better foundation. Just my .02 local friend has 351w sbe good top end 200 shot runs 6.50. Dosent sound like much of a waste to me.
