Practice burnout mistake
I was practicing my burn out for the track today. I have a powerglide with Manuel valve body. One foot on brake other on gas had tires spinning good went to shift into second not realizing I had my hand squeezing trigger on shifter. So I ended up throwing car in neutral and my foot was still on brake so it was a sudden stop of the burn out. You think I coul have hurt anything doing that? Or the built rear and trans are made to take a beating and I worry for nothing.

Burn outs without a line lock are pretty rough on the rear brakes... nothing like wasting money on tires AND brakes at the same time.
Burnouts are rarely done correctly IMO... see people doing it wrong at the track all the time. Here's how I do it.
1. Back into the water so the tires are just inside the puddle.
2. Quick spin to wet the whole circumfrence of the tires.
3. Pull out about 3-5 feet from the puddle.
4. Set line lock.
5. Shift to second gear.
6. Bring the revs up to about 3 grand.
7. Pop clutch.
8. Hold RMPs steady at 3k without revving up and down.
9. Wait for smoke to roll up which means all the water on the tires is gone.
10. Release line lock and let car roll forward about 10 feet... then stage quickly before they cool down too much.

11) DONT do a dry hop...unless you suspect you didnt heat them properly. your best launch is your FIRST launch. doing a dry hop believe it or not...will remove enuff heat to make your launch not as good
