Hey guys, was wondering what you guys thought of flowtech headers, they are reasonably cheap, but that what concerns me haha. I need to replace my longtubes and was wondering if these headers were alright. Also what gaskets would you recommend for a good tight seal?
they are junk IMO, but I used them up until a while ago and a used the real seal 5 layer aluminum crush gaskets as they had oval ports that were most shaped to the oval design of the flowtech headers. I never had any issue with mine except leaks at the joints as I cut the flange on mine so I could install them tubes at a time as iirc flowtechs were/are capable of such.
Would you say my best bet would be to spend more on better quality headers? Not sure what previous owner has on the car, all I know is that they are junk and leaking lol

here's the prob I have with most of the headers out there....example 1: recently I spent 400 on a set of mac headers 1 3/4 for my 203 tw tfs heads, when headers arrived, half the ports were sufficated by the interior weld on the flange, in reality no way around it due to oem bolt pattern, so i grind half the weld out, okay, tons better, however the dang port alignment was still 1/4 inch off even after opening up the gaskets and ports, must be a sloppy jig MAC uses , point being headers IMO don't fit like a glove until you get to the 1000 dollar range, IMO all the retail mass produced headers are sloppy, but most who buy them don't pay attention to detail nor are they trying to make port transition the way it needs to be, which "the attention to detail" is what seperates you from the "bolt together class". Also, gotta love the bbk headers that come in 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 iirc primaries and they neck them down to 2 1/2 collectors so they can be run with any 2 1/2 exhaust, IMO kinda defeats the purpose of the larger primaries to bottle neck it at the end, which is why I went with the MAC at least they had a 3 inch collector option for 1 3/4 primaries, but that is my combo needs, yours may not be such, so maybe the flowtech will work for you
Thank you!... your input has been greatly appreciated. May go with the flowtechs and see how they hold up, or I may just try and get better gaskets on my car now and see what that does
my old flowtechs are sitting on a work cart, I used them for 5 years and they never had a prob, for a cheap header they worked okay, if you were closer 30 bucks and they'd be yours
