Default Thinking about this top end engine kit

Hi, I'm thinking about saving for a top end engine kit from late model restoration and I was thinking this would be good. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/TFS-K514350370B/1987-93-Mustang-50L-Trick-Flow-Street-Burner-Top-End-Kit-Blk . But my question is would it be just a bolt on project with the factory displacement e303 cam and valve spring and factory pistons crank and factory fuel delivery system? To kinda sum it up, in order to use this kit what would be an affordable procedure to running as best for a street rod as possible, thanks in advance.

Yep strictly bolt on kit. And a very good one for a 5.0l mustang.

You may want to go to 24lb injectors and at least a 190lph fuel pump with adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Check the for sale section. There is some pretty high end 5.0 parts for sale at good prices right now.

The kit comes with a cam and the heads already have springs

Awesome, thanks. I'm looking forward to doing it, taking vacation time for it.

Personally I would spend the money else ware, 2,700 I would just keep saving up and do a stroker then work on piecing my own head and intake combo with a custom cam and you will be much happier than spending the money on that then wanting to do a stroker later on down the road, just my .02

I disagree, I think the kit is a great option, and a reasonable price.

To stroke the engine, he'd have to pull the entire engine, have the block machined, etc, and at the end he would have the same head/intake/cam combo that he has now, so he won't have gained anything but another 45cid. To make use of it, he would still need a head/intake/cam combo to make use of the new found displacement.

I don't see any benefit of doing a rebuild, which is what a stroker kit would be, with a perfectly working bottom end. Why not wait until the bottom end is in need of a rebuild to stroke it?

And I'm pretty sure that he would enjoy the 350bhp in the meantime, no?

If it were in stock, I'd order it myself, but it looks like it's out of stock for now anyway, hopefully the OP snagged one before this.

Yeah he will need to get an h/c/i to take advantage of the new lower end BUT if you go with a nice 347 kit and up the compression than you're going to want more than what that trickflow top end kit has to offer because at that point its restrictive like I said was just my.02 better to do it all once, I went down the road of building up the 302 and changing things out working with different h/c/i combos was going to stroke my 302 than said screw it and got my windsor lol

Yea I'm actually going with a brand new crate casting with forged pistons already installed, around 4700 all together. I'm def not going to put those new shiny parts on my stock 302.

Well make sure you go threw a well known shop so you don't end up buying junk, also if you're going to increase the ci I would piece together a nicer setup than what you are looking at along with a custom ground cam
