Default 1989 automatic shift cable issue

Today I finally got my AOD transmission in after battling this 2 3l to 5.0 swap for sometime now to find out a couple things. Firstly, the transmission I put in is off of a 1990 mustang and after bolting it up, the mount won't reach the crossmember by a solid couple inches when everyone says it should. So am I doing something wrong or is it just another freak oddity that this car seems to always have. The second issue I'm having is that my shifter cable won't hook up to the shifter and there are no signs of any sort of hook ups for the shifter besides at the transmission. Any help would be great, thanks!

you need the 5.0 stuff/shifter and a double hump crossmember for a 5.0 auto car, they are slid on the tubes all the way to the one side

Sadly I'm doing the exact same thing. My donor car is an 89 into my 92. I can't figure out whhere/how to attach the shifter-side of the cable, nor how to route it so it doesn't hang to the ground. I wish I could help. If I figure it out I will post here again.
