None do something different. If i had to choose it would be the cobra r, simply by the fact that EVERYONE i see driving has the cowl hood, and that other one just looks like garbage.

The heat extractor does not have any extra clearance in comparison to the stock 87 hood?

I spoke w/ Cervini's about itand they said it was the same clearance as stock. The only difference I would imagine is that the stock hood has all that extra bracing whereas the heat extractor doesn't, IIRC.
