Default Loose shifter 6-speed

Anybody else have a "loose" shifter? People talk about shifters being "notchy" all the time, not sure that is how I would describe mine. It rattles a bit and does not feel very precise.

I ask because the trans was out for a repair when it was brand new and I don't know if what I feel is normal. Car has 2700 miles, been that way since day 1. I did not drive it before the repair so I can't judge if that changed anything.

I suppose I could go with a Ford Racing or Steeda shifter but I am not really sure I want to go through all that.

Is there any way you can go "test drive" a new one to compare?

That is a great idea, I will try that this weekend.

Drove a new one, the shifter was fine and did not rattle like mine. I made an appointment for them to fix it. Thanks again for the good idea

Picked it up just now, they fixed it. Installed a new shifter boot, I think the reverse-lockout **** was loose.
