New GT owner here, quick question - does the oil drain plug have a gasket, and does it need to be replaced when changing the oil? I've had older vehicles that required you to change the gasket every oil change. The Jeep is quite a bit newer than those vehicles and it has a reusable gasket. I plan to change the oil after the break in period and I haven't read anything online that suggested a new gasket was required, but I just wanted to make sure I have everything I need. Thanks.

 

Yes it has a gasket, and no it doesn't need changed everytime. Eventually I suppose it will get chewed up and need replaced, but not until its a problem.

Anybody switched to a fumoto valve?

 

Already got mine in just waiting till 3,000 miles to do my first oil change. I had installed a fumoto valve on my 2015 F-250, loved it, made draining the 13 Qts easy and mess free.

 

Fumoto? No thanks.

I'm afraid of the cheapy oil change places! I had to stop one kid tightening the drain plug with a wrench & a mallet! When I yelled at him to stop he said, "If it leaks then people complain!" Not a joke, it really happened! If you do have your oil changed take it to a "good private shop" with people with automotive experience & pay a little more for the safety! Automotive dealers often start green employees on the lube rack! I had a bad experience with an oil change at a dealer too! Yikes!
