Default Windshield Frost

We have black 2017 Gt/Cs.

Purchase about 4 months ago, easy driving with 2750 miles.

We went shopping this evening. Car sat outside for about 2 1/2 hours in 10 degree weather, clear skies.

When we got inside our garage what I thought was a dirty spot on the outside lower left corner of the windshield turned out to be frost on the inside lower left corner of the windshield.

Anyone else seen this? I don't think this should be normal.

Am I wrong?

Appreciate any input!

it seems normal, you had a warm humid car and left it in a very cold environment. Rain-X anti-fog works wonders.

Use rain-x all the time. We've owned Taurus's, Explorers (currently a 2016), Ford 500, '86 Diesel pick-up and now our first Mustang. Never experienced this with any of the others.

Just doesn't seem right on a car in this price category.

We'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks for you reply!

yeah, I'm not your dealer but I'm sure they can agree there's nothing wrong with your sports car that gets minor frost on the windshield when parked hot then sits for hours at 10 degrees(assuming farenheit). not trying to be a deck, just injecting some reality into the equation.

I agree...Humid interior + Freezing temps = frost. Water condenses on surfaces colder than the ambient temperature, in this case glass. It's cold out there in IL so the glass gets freezing. Doesn't matter how much you paid for the car, it's science.

Don't be surprised if you leave a water bottle in the car overnight and it freezes.....

Familiar with what everyone has suggested. Just the first time it's happened. We've always been impressed with Ford HVAC systems. Never a complaint. Now that I recall it did happen to us once in our '02vette.

Thanks

you could try not breathing while driving, or run a dehumidifier, then somehow get out of the car without letting in a bunch of cold air which is coing to bring it's own humidity with it.

battery powered dehumidifier while parked?

keep it running while you are in the restaurant?

Out of curiosity, how many of you who are being snarky to the OP have had frost form in the interior of your car? I've had 4 Mustangs now, a 1990 LX, a 2001 GT convertible, a 2013 GT and currently a 2016 GT. Personally, I have never, not even once in my convertible, had frost form on the inside my car with all of the windows up.

OP, I'd take a guess that you may want to make sure the weather stripping is secure around all of your windows.

Sport,

Thanks for the reply. I'll look at it and mention something to the service center next week. You never know. Just doesn't seem right, cars have improved so much the last 10 years. There have been build issues on 35 million dollar aircraft. Differernt level of wauranty work, but it happens.
