Unhappy Starter stuck today

This morning when I went to start my new car (2011 gt premium) with only 800 miles, Turned the key and the starter engage but didn't start. Let off the key and the starter keep cranking. Had to turn key to off and it stopped cranking. Tried it again and the exact thing happened. After that I was learry of trying again. But the 3rd time was the charm. Started right up and the starter acted right.
Do you think this was a fluke or should I take it in? It started fine after I got to work. Anyone else had this happen?

I would most definitely take it in to have them look at it. It should not take 3 attempts to start a fresh 800 mile car.

You definitely have a problem. The starter should not stay engaged. Sad thing is if you bring it in and it starts ok, and they can not duplicate the problem, they will not do anything for you. If it were me I would contact the dealer service dept and see what they recommend.

I've had this happen twice over 5k miles. I haven't taken it in bc its impossible to duplicate.
I think the starter is electronic so it keeps trying until u shut it down.

Looks like it has something to do with the one touch start system

Well it sarted just fine last night and this morning. The one Touch Start thing sounds like what mine did. Except it didn't start, and I turned key to off to stop the starter. I'm affraid that it wont do it again if ,I take it in. I guess I'll play it by ear and see how it does. If it gets worst or does it again, I'll call them and see about taking it in. I didn't know about the one Touch Start thing on the car.

this happened to my wife or atleast i think this is what she was talking about . If the car doesnt start the first cycle, like if your foot slips off the cluth or anything else the car seems like it keeps trying til it starts idk, hard to explain, but as what we see here your not the only one. I personally have not anything happen like this before while im in the car.
