Default Oil usage

My 5.0 has about 6300 miles and I have noticed that it is using some oil. The dealer changed it 5000 and they did not put in the full 8 quarts. Knowing that it was full I checked it the other day and it was down almost to the add mark. I was wanting to know if anyone is having this problem?

Run it for the same amount of miles and check it again, if stays level then the oil is in your intake manifold. Is this your first Ford? They do that.

5000 miles original oil and I added 1/3 quart to bring level up to almost half way between the dipstick marks.

2700 miles and almost no drop in the level. Maybe half a quart.

Mine's over 5K miles. I changed it at 1000 miles, but for the last 4K it hasn't used any oil from what I can tell.

I am not sure why, but my dealer put in less than the full 8 quarts my engine owners manual says to add.

I just had my oil changed at 6400 miles and It took 8qts.

This is the second time I've heard of a dealer using less then 8qts.

after draining all oil,my car only took 6qts and the dipstick read full.We let it sit for about 15-20 minuets and re checked the oil.It then took 2 more qts making 8 total.I'm not sure where the oil goes but it will take all 8qts

I would talk to the dealer and make sure you have 8qts of oil as that is what the owners manual calls for.

I was told by the service rep that FORD'S computer had the wrong amount of oil to replace the oil. I think that it was a human error, but I am concern that it was full the day after and now it is closer to the add mark.

I'm at just over 2000 miles.. just checked the oil, and it is even with the bottom of the checkered area of the dipstick. Should I add oil right away? I'm going on a little trip (80 miles each way), and planned on getting an oil change when I get back. Also.. I know I can read the manual .. but do these cars take full synthetic now.. or is it still a blend?

Thanks,

M.
