Performance Tune
Hi, I'm not sure when is the best time to install a computer tune. When adding a CAI & PCM tune.....is better to do this last? Should other performance mods be installed prior to a PCM tune....such as Headers & exhaust, 4.10 gears, not sure if tire size makes a difference, pullies and anything else I didn't think of. After reviewing different PCM tuners I noticed that these new style tuners could be application specific......doesn't matter for mild performance improvements? Any advice will be appreciated?
The last PCM tuner (hypertech) I bought was a few years ago for a Corvette. It made a difference, but all I could adjust was rev limit, tire size for speedo and gear ratio....the tunes were pre-programmed......do the new 5.0 programmers have these same features? Advice from a tuner veterans is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you buy from a company like Bama or Brenspeed, they'll offer you liftime updates to your custom tunes. That way you get more out of your tunes in the first place since they're honed in to your own car, and then as you add things, you can call them up and let them know and they can make alterations to your code and then you just upload the new ones onto your tuner and then onto the car.
Getting a tune early on is necessary when it comes to a bunch of the alterations that involve air flow changes or high performance changes.

Is there a tuner tool/software available so that we can do the adjustments ourselves? I know it's complicated...but, the fun is also in the learning. Not meaning to use this as a qualification....roughly 18 years ago or so... we had primitive software and would actually adjust the programs line by line and then convert into graphs and if we were happy....burn it on to a special blank chip and install back into the computer.....like a said primitive software...we used on Z28s and Vettes. It was a lot of fun, it seems complicated at first, but after some time playing around with it was very understandable, offers a lot of value as far as flexibility. I have no idea on what to research as far as vendors or if something like this is within a reasonable price. Any advice will be appreciated.

The software is either SCT or Diablosport. I know SCT is about 1500 for the single Mustang year package, or something like maybe $5000 for all Mustangs. This will give you VERY VERY basic access, and surely not enough to fully tune the vehicle. It will have basic fueling and timing parameters. So then from there, you can head down to Orlando and check out SCT's Basic and Advanced training courses. They're 1500/pc per person, and you'll be there for a few days - but it's definitely worth it. You'll learn basic and advanced PCM controls and functions. The nice thing about it is that the advanced class completion will unlock drive-by-wire and other functions that are necessary for tuning a Mustang (05+ especially).

Hi, If I bought a SCT Bama tune from you guys and also bought the SCT Pro-Racer Advantage III software.....would I be able to unlock the Bama tunes and make modifications/alterations?
