Default IL question

I live down in O'Fallon IL and I was wondering if I could get away with a full aftermarket exhaust system(headers, x or h pipe and catbacks) as long as I didn't get a loud exhaust? Cause I know it's illegal to do it in IL.

If you don't have emissions testing in Southern Illinois. Then I think you would be ok.

i know this thread is way old but im just trying to contribute....lol

I live in IL as well and yes you do have to have emissons testing every 2 years.

however on any car with a OBDII port so pretty much anything since mid 90's
all they will do is plug into this port and read if any codes are coming out....

so as long as you dont have an engine light on you should be good. They wont hook up anything to your tailpipe....

any exhaust should be fine as long as you still have some form of cats or a tune to defeat the PCM throwing the codes.

hope this helps if you are still wondering....
