Another #8 Cylinder Issue?? Need HELP
That's not entirely true. While they have different pistons, they are still not forged. The only other thing they have done to them is use a different coating on them, and they removed the oil cooling jets, which reduced windage, and therefore increased the power by 8hp. I wouldn't go as far as saying the 2013s will have 0 issues. As far as the #8 cylinder goes on the 11/12 cars, it's really not a wide spread problem on them either. Less than 15 cars between all the Mustang Forums are documented, and none of them have been stock. It's the poor tunes that are doing the cars in.
Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated. That's what was drawing me toward the stang was the reception to mods and boosting power, performance down the road. If I get one I'll leave it stock for now until the warranty has expired. Right now in Canada there is no cash incentive for the 2013's yet but there is $4500 for the 2012 so it's a decent deal right now. Not really interested in the Camaro or Dodge although a co-worker bought a 5.7 hemi Charger and it seemed pretty quick, I guess the Mustang will take it though

the 2013 mustang GT's? I think you are incorrect. There was even an article on this forum saying the only difference was a coating on the pistons and a slightly different tune.
I read his question wrong I thought he was asking about Boss pistions, but I did read somewhere that they reworked some items in the 2013 GT.

Thanks SDF
The oem (any of them) is not under any obligation to make a car handle more than what they designed it for. There's a huge aftermarket for Mustangs, everyone knows that. I personally would prefer that ford keep the costs of the new car down and let those that want to play pony up their own cash instead of my extra thousand or so bucks going towards your interest in upgrading your car using the factory setup then complaining that the factory setup is not good enough for you.
There are tons of people that buy the car and keep it completely stock not even a tune.
You as in the collective upgrade aftermarket, not you personally
that's probably what i had read, the concern was that in the 4.6L the connecting rods were what always broke, the pistons were awesome. so they were worried that in the boss that would be the weak point yet again.
