Got rid of the 1>4 skip shift
After a couple of weeks and almost getting rear ended, I unplugged, tied up, and sealed off the skip shift solenoid and pig tail. Is it my imagination or is now just a tad smoother on shifting from 1st to 2nd? The best way to describe the shift before was almost a forced shift like a syncronizer was going bad. Almost like there was lump when shifting. Seems much smoother.

I know before my FRPP tune disabled my skipshift, I was always weary of that 1-2 shift... Even now, as I am still getting used to the tune, I sometimes subconsciously braced for that dreaded skip shift...LOL...
I think that our muscle memory is prepared for that damn thing and that might be why we feel it shifts better with it defeated... granted mine is still connected and yours is disconnected at the solenoid.

Funny, mine is not disabled and I've never come close to getting rear-ended. Of course, I usually start in 2nd. If I am using 1st that means I am going for a quick launch and skip shift is not going to be a problem. I will have it disabled when my tune arrives, however.

That's good to hear. Nothing like having to poke in traffic in 1st. Things get to going again, and your car decides to fall on it's face. Makes you look like an idiot. I wonder what brainiac came up with that idea to start with.

As far as I know the idea of skip-shift has been around for awhile.
I can recall years back my cousin bought an 80's Trans-am from a private seller, he listed in the add online that it had skip-shift delete. For some reason I remember that conversation.

First cars to have skip shift were Corvettes, and T56 equipped 4th Gen F-bodies came with it starting in 1994. I disabled mine on my `98 Formula within the first 6 months.
