Default A couple ?'s about Mid`pipes...

I've been around long enough to know to use the search first, didn't really find what I was looking for. Anyhow, I'm pretty new to the V8 game, I recently installed some ROUSH axlebacks and LOOOOVE the sound I get from them. I've been kicking around the idea of throwing on a different set of mid-pipes. I live in California (Hence the name) I'm not looking for anything O/R, I dont want the hassle of switching them out every time I need a SMOG.

I've had my eye one the MAC Prochamber but, haven't heard alot of good things about it. I'm preferably looking for an H-Pipe, I prefer the sound

Those of you with aftermarket Mid's, what did you go with, why? Are they worth the money?

All help is much appreciated, thanks!

Your basically SOL if you want to change your mid pipe and not reinstall the stock one before smog. I don't think any meet CA compliance. Only thing you could do is change the pipe from the cats back, which won't really do anything except change the exhaust tone if you went to an X-pipe.

If you do go to a catted pipe you'll pass the emission test but would fail the visual if they look and see the pipe is not OEM, so its a crap shoot.

The deletion of the cats is what gives the dramatic change in sound.

Yea, what I was looking for was from the Cat back. I've seen a few pipes out there that are catted or are from the cat back.I'm not too worried about a visual inspection, they really don't do that around where I live, its the emission's tests every few years that are the problem

I've heard alot of O/R setups on Youtube and IMO it's just a little too loud for what I'm wanting. I'm looking to add a more aggressive tone

and power. Either go O/R or keep it stock. Nothing to be gained really unless you delete the cats or go with hi-flo cats.

I just moved from San Diego but I used the JBA x pipe, you can bolt it up after the cats or it comes with cat delete pipes if you choose to go catless. The stock H pipe imo is a worthless. I have the Roush Ab as well and just the after cat x changed the tone a lot. If you want a little more volume try getting rid of the resonators and that wont have an effect on passing emissions and all that bs.

This was prior to me going with LT's and full exhaust.

AM has it on sale right now and it is smog legal.

I like the fact that the JBA's give you the option to go catless, should I ever want to head that route I also notice they make the 3" to 2.75" in an H-pipe.so that definitely has me interested now. Are you still here in CA? How the heck are you getting away with LT's? Lol

I got a great deal on my BBK Cat Delete + X-pipe. Otherwise, I was sold on the JBA system. They are the only system that I have heard of with little complaints about the Cat Delete Pipe to mid-pipe leak. Mine was used, but had been welded because of a leak issue. Plus, like you said, JBA gives you the flexibility to put the cats back in for inspections and what-not.
