Whine when accelerating
#2
Transmission whine seems to be a normal thing for the GTs. I actually just came across this discussion elsewhere and many confirmed, even if you replace it, the whine comes right back with the new one. I wouldn't worry with it or mess with it. There might even be a bulletin on it somewhere if you called or looked it up saying the same.

Mine has the whine also, it seemed to have got worse after a few misses of 2nd gear and stayed the same for about 15k miles since then. The other mustang i test drove had the whine at 17k miles. Mine was pretty quiet when i bought it at 15k miles then i drove it kind of hard and it got the whine at about 20k miles. It doesnt seem to effect performance and it doesnt seem to be getting worse now, and i dont mind it. Ill drive it until it doesnt work or actually breaks then have ford fix it.
I tried replacing the transmission fluid with royal purple and that had absolutely no effect.
Im pretty sure if they "fixed' it just to remove the whine, the whine will be back after some hard driving anyway.
And it sounds like some type of quiet SC in 1st and 2nd like others have said lol high pitch and i kind of like it.

I know that you said the car is stock. You might want to check the shifter. Aftermarket shifters tend to add NVH. My MT-82 was quiet when I bought it, but I hear whine since I installed a short-throw shifter and bracket. Its nothing that bothers me, but it is there.
This doesn't mean that it would go away with a stock shifter, but it would be quieter for sure when compared to the aftermarket shifter.

I get mine at times, I think mostly when slowly revving first gear and not switching to 2nd. Also remember to press your clutch all the way. The clutch in my friends mustang is extremely hard compare to mind and he only has a few more thousand miles than me. He just never press the clutch all the way like I do. I am glad I read the manual.
