Default Procal Tune Issues

I have a 2014 Mustang GT with a track pack. I had the Procal tune done at the dealership in Bend Oregon. The car seemed to run great at the altitude of @3300 feet in Bend. I moved to the Portland OR area, and I am experiencing a valve knock when I apply a heavy dose of fuel say after the 3K and up area on the tack. I was told by the “Ford Racing” guy at Landmark Ford that that is just the way it is. I thought it could be that you can only get 92 octane with the exception of a handful of stations that offer 91. I’ve read the instruction sheet on the ProCal II instalation sheet and do see that the octane can be adjusted on the tune. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Thank you in advance.

Ok, number one, there is no such thing as valve knock.

If what you suspect you hear is preignition/ping, throw a couple cans of good octane boost (like Torco or Lucas) in there and see if it improves.

I suspect you are not hearing ping/preignition but, you can take the tuner and plug it in and set the Octane Adjust to Y and it'll tame it if it is. While there, do an Idle Profile Relearn with the tool.

I had this tune for almost 3 years, put 100 passes at the strip on it and put a fully loaded 2012 BBP into the 11s on a sticky tire with it. It absolutely rocked hard for me. After all that time I pulled the plugs. No indication of preignition damage and the engine made full factory max compression on all 8 cylinders.
