pissed off
well i bought the pypes 409 exhaust for v6 mustang thinking that it would be an easy install seeming is that it wat it said. well after 7 HOURS and problem and problem of things not fitting at all what so ever i am going to have to go to a exhaust shop to get it installed adding more money to the equation. i would have thoguht better of you american muscle then to sell this crap that dosnt even fit the year that its advertised as.
Takin the stock Y pipe sir isnt really easy as it sounds. When I bought my MAC H pipe it took us 5 hours to install it. Its called mechanical skills which by the sounds of it you dont have and its not AMs fault that you cant install it. They sell great products.
you obvisoly dont understand that the parts literly did not fit. the mufflers did not fit. one tailpipe didnt fit over the real axel. the hangers didnt fit on the passanger side. the supllied Y pipe would need to be cut down. all i am saying is im disapointed that they would sell somting for such a general part on the instructions it says 96-04 mustangs well im sure there is a diffrence between all of them.
well if the exhaust shop bills over 150 for it i will be returning this and possiblybuying from a diffrent website even though ive bragged to my friends that American Muscle is the best.
Actually Pypes makes very good exhaust products. There will be some finagling that must be done with any exhaust system, no matter what brand and how "bolt-on" it appears to be to get it to fit perfectly. This is just the nature of the beast due to variances in the stock exhaust systemand from manufacturing tolerances from car to car.I have installed systems from Steeda, SLP, Magnaflow, Pypes, and Flowmaster from headers to mid-pipes to cat-backs and it was never a walk in the park.
Some things to note is the tail pipes on Mustangs can be very tricky to get over the axle.To get it to clear over, the car must beon jack stands by the frame so the back wheels/axle/suspension hangs freely giving you maximum clearance. You can use a floor jack on the rear differential housing to raise the axle if necessary to clear a trouble spot. That system also uses compression fitting which you should be able to slide the pipes in and out to adjust the lengths of the sections by a few inches when putting it together.
Like I said Pypes makes very good products and they also stand behind their products which is why we carry them. If something truly doesn't fit, it is more then likely you got an incorrect part inside of the box. Give Pypes a call, they are very good about getting the correct replacementpart out to you.
