Default Raxiom retro-style headlights

Quick question on these headlights, first off I LOVE the way these look and was totally interested on picking some of these up, but I noticed it says that they don't support HID's. My question is, is it just factory HID's or is it just any and all HID kits?

I just returned my third set. Good thing Am Muscle has a great return policy. I have had problems with the halos and the connectors, and I have never used HIDs on these headlights. Maybe the headlights for the older mustangs are better, but mine were not very quality parts. If you want HIDS open up your OEM lights and install projectors. Send your headlights over to sickhids.com. He does a great job for less money than the rest.

I already have HID's installed on my stock set-up. Wasn't looking into getting projectors. The headlights I was interested in just say they dont work with HID's.

My point was at least the Raxioms I tried did not even work with regular halide bulbs without failing. Also for a few hundred more, you can get projectors installed in your OEMS that work properly with HIDs.

There is no comparison between just installing HIDs into your OEM setup vs. getting projectors and HIDs installed. I did the HID install in my OEMs. Light is thrown everywhere, the lights flicker, and eventually fail from the vibration.

Hmm thats weird, mine have been working fine for about 5 years now. My headlights have the bulb shield so the light is directed to the right place. I want a pre-painted set-up like that shown in the link I provided. Anybody from AM have any help they can give?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We're really excited for these retro lights as well. Not only do they look great, but they fit like a glove.

Unfortunately, externally-ballasted HID kits are not going to work this these due to the proximity of the bulb to the lens. HID bulbs with their own power source create a lot of heat and when installed in these lights, would end up burning the lens. You can run HID bulbs that don't use an external power-source, like the Sylvanias we carry: Sylvania Bulbs at AM

Well, you can always get one now and then pick up the other one down the line! Which do you prefer going fast or looking good?

Thanks for the help Chris!

No problemo, glad to help!

I'm actually working with our New Parts Team to try to test some different HID kits with different wattage bulbs on all of our headlights, just to let you guys know what will work or not. We don't carry them, but it doesn't mean we can't test what HID kits our headlights support. In the past, we've gone by customer feedback (talked to people running our old HID kits--55w bulbs) and saw that higher wattage bulbs were not kind to our headlights under constant-use. However, I don't think we ever tested lower wattage (35w or so) to see if they'd cause the same issues.

As always, we'll keep you guys updated first. That way you know what's what when making your new headlight purchases. The more we know and test for, the better informed decisions you guys can make!

Hope this helps, have a great afternoon.
