Hey guys i just purchased a new dvd player and head unit for my 97 mustang. I wanted to hook up my regular size ps2 into it. Does anyone know where my options of putting it will be? I am getting it professionally installed but I dont have that much money to have a custom setup done under the glove compartment. So i'm guessing under the passenger seat...?
Also the guy gave me an adapter cable (yellow) of some sort he said will be specifically for the ps2 setup, besides that is there some type of power inverter i will need to purchase seperately or will they run it from my battery directly? I'm not sure if this is possible or not because i think the voltage needs to be transferred from 12 to 8.5 or something. I have to wait a little over a week to get it installed so any help is appreciated

 

You will need to buy a power inverter. I have a 70 or so volt I think. It runs my ps2.

you mean 70 Watt? it's going to be 110/120 folt no matter watt.

 

so there is going to be a wire running from the inverter which is in the lighter socket, to wherever the ps2 is placed?

 

I had mine in my cavalier and now will be putting it in the stang, mine was wired through the power wire that leads to the amps in my trunk. I had it connect just after it gets past the firewall hole. I that the positive end and i got the negative end grounded to the chassis. I dont have the inverter run to the cig light, cause it trips out sometimes. If its wired direct its better, I also have a 8 inch flip down widescreen in my car that I have the rca's running to the ps2. Thats hints on what you can do. If your gonna have it in there permently and not have the ps2 out of the car again have it mounted with enough breathing room and so that bumps and jolts wont effect it, basically on a sliding floor if you understand that.

I had a cigarette lighter ran to the inverter. Then the inverter ran to my brain, for my avic-n1, and finally from the ps2, 3 av cords to the brain.

 

I do have an amp and sub install currently in my car and do plan on keeping the ps2 in my car permanently but im not installing it, so my best bet would be running it direct? If i do go power inverter will it **** up from time to time? Also will the amount of max wattage of the inverter going to affect something like that? How much power does the ps2 use and an average dvd player/screen? is 150W enough or do i need like 300W?

 

Since your not gonna remove it from the vehicle ya wire the inverter direct, if your having a shop do it then they will wire it that way for you. The inverter wont mess up from time to time, it did on me cause i had a bad cig lig connector. No the more the watts the more (toys) it can hold without going into protection mode. either should work. I think i had one around 150W not sure, have to check in the cavy, cause its in there still lol.
