anti theft being homosexual
Hey all~
I've had my car a little under a year now and recently has been giving me numerous problems, one being the security system. Now what it's doing is in the middle of the night, at like 2 am or 6 am (my neighbors just love this) it just goes off. And none of the buttons work to deactivate it as they are supposed to. So you have to push un lock, which un locks the doors, and while it's still goin off get in and turn the key. None of the fords we've owned have been like this.
Now... I Recently found a water leak. It was by the trunk hinge bracket on the drivers side where it bolts to the body and water was leaking down and into my spare tire well [:@][:@] but we have since siliconed that up.
I believe the water had a direct gravitational shot to the anti theft module, as it was right under the leak.
So... would that water leak cause the internal problems? Probably some kind of short? [:@][:@][:@] Also, how much is a new module, and does the dealer have to replace it? I think so because they have that module tied into everything. If it needs to be done by the dealer, I just started working there so MAYBE they can help me.
any ideas let me know, because from now on I have to push each lock manually until this p.o.s. stops being gay

it could be any number of problems from an old battery to almost anything. I would not take the time to try and save the factory alarm. Take that money and put it into a good alarm
all right well the car has a brand new battery, and all the door switches operate great, because the lights come on and off properly and 'smoothly' without any flickering.
what i may do is see if I can pull a module out of a junkyard stang and put it in mine, or buy one off someone who is upgrading and plug it into mine. Question being what is required to set up a fresh module, do I have to reprogram or anything?
And I am NOT buying an aftermarket setup, I CAN NOT afford it. I have too many other things on my plate some of which being other stupid repairs on this car. [:@][:@]

I have installed hundreds of alarms and like to think I know a few things about them, but I have no advise to add on what would be needed to replace a factory alarm as I have never done anything but wire around/into them. I wouldn't even know where to tell you to look other then yer dealership.. I hope you have friends there as they rarely give anything away, info or hardware.....
well the dealer I work at said come the weekend if this one tech is here on that day towards the end of the day they could probably hook my car up to the diagnostic machine for freeand tell me WHAT IS SETTING IT OFF so then I can go after that part/wire/component/etc... i will report back
There are only 3 things that set off a factory alarm. Disconnecting the battery, opening a door, turning on the ignition. Either you have have a bad or loose power or ground, a bad door switch or a faulty ignition swithc.
okay well today (saturday) was really busy so the tech said on tuesday when we com eback he'll scan it. no big deal, but he's gonna do it for free so it'll tell me WTF is up.
Oh yeah my trunk got jammed shut too. Ihad to crawl through the folding down rear seat and un bolt the lock mechanism. I pried it open and soaked it in liquid wrench, then greased it. now it's fine... ugh
