Default Adding A Home Theater Sub To Stock System?

I have a home theator sub that I want to tap into the rear speakers For sound and plug the sub via AC/DC Coverter To Cig Outlet For Power. I had this same setup on a 1999 Toyota camry and had it running for at least a month then wanted to replace rear deck speakers and the guy said I cannot do that Becuase I will blow the rear speakers, so he unhooked it. I just read on mustang world about adding subs that you should not tap into speaker wire to get signal. My questions are:
1. How will I blow the speaker if i am using other power source and just want the music to go to the sub.
2. What is the best and easiest way to add a Home theator sub that plugs into AC. I have an AC/DC Converter.
PS. I cannot by "REAL" Subs Yet, Saving Up For Good Ones.
Thanks

Just go buy a friggin bazooka and have it side mounted in trunk (make sure it's an amplified one) and you can have it installed professionally, and have it look good at the same time (it's not much getting em installed).

Please stop trying to ruin your Mach. Look at circuit city and best buy for open box items. You can get them cheaper then what you most likely paid for your neons...... NO offense but, do it right or do not do it at all.

We are trying to be helpful. But consider the fact that a home theater sub is going to be running probrably different ohms, wattage than a car stereo system.

We also don't want you to ruin your car

you will need to see how many amps the dc/ac converter will support, and make sure the sub does not exceed that. also see how many watts your stereo is putting out, and make sure that does not exceed the rating of the sub. if all of this is fine, it will work, but it will be getto, and i would not do it. i would turn the stereo off, and listen to my exhaust.
