dvd install problem
first of all my player is out of my car right now because after it was installed, a peice inside broke and needed repair so right now i dont have it in my car.\
anyways, the guy installed it going to my brake light switch, then i believe to fuse #9 (which is brake lights, hazards and turn signals). Well after install i noticed none of these worked so i got it fixed.
the mechanic told me i could hook it up to another switch or something that could handle it better (or something along those lines)
i called the dude who installed it and he seemed kind of confused on the situation like hes never had this happen. I know hes been doing it for over 15 years too so he has the experience. He said he went by what the book told him to hook it up to....no hard feelings tho bcuz this guys done so much for me for free
My question: Is there a way he can hook it up so it wont blow a fuse and (most importantly) my brake light switch and what most likely caused this? I really dont want it to happen again.
Thanks all

It's possible.. the issue is that in your location its illegal to have your dvd player on while your vehicle is in motion, so he ties the unit into the emergency brake line, but he must have shorted out the line, or left a wire exposed that is in proximity of the body frame so it's grounding out and popping the fuse. Should be a pretty easy fix, if i'm reading into the situation properly.
so could you give me a little description on what i can mention to him so he can try to avoid doing it again....should i just mention what you said about a possibly exposed wire? and how did he "just short out the line"?
you generally just need a switch and a ground. The wire looks for a ground or a series of gounds(on off on off on) to actuvate the video portion. So connect one side of the switch to ground, and the other to the input on the deck. There is no need for a large gauge switch, and you might not even need one if you can just leave it connected to ground......... And of course I didn't tell ya......
