Ok, so i recently got a new stereo system. I have a new alpine deck, (2)JL 6x9 speakers, (1)JL 3.5 speaker, and (1)JL 10" sub powerd by a ROCKFORD FOSTGATE amp. The higher i put the volume, the more my lights dimm. What can i do to stop the dimming?...THANKZ!!!

try a capacitor. they're not the least expensive, but it should help your bass response and also help your lights from dimming. depending upon your amp, you'll probably want a 1 farad cap.

I had a problem like that. I ended up with a bigger battery and a capacitor. I found a nice looking cap from a wiring site called http://www.darvex.com I ended up with a few odds and ends from them. Good place. The cap really made did the trick for me. It's a Stinger brand.

Get an alternator off of an '85 GT w/ extra visibility light group. They came from the factory with a 130amp alternator. I run a 2000 watt system in my car, my amp guage doesnt move. I run 2 kicker competition Gold series 12", and 2 8" motorola horn tweets off of it.
-P.
PS: I dont have a farad cap, I dont need one. My system hits 137dB.

I had the same issue on my last car. I purchased a Capacitor and it fixed the problem. On a larger scale you may need an upgraded Alt. and Battery. But I would start with a Cap.

IMO a system that size shouldn't require a Cap.

In a newer car it wouldn't. But in a classic the wiring/charging system was not designed for a whole lot so that amp punches the charging system in the gut every time it hits.

I say go for a bigger alternator, 130amp should do nicely.
