Default Rear Speaker Installation

Hey guys, I'm thinking about replacing my rear speakers in my 98 GT with some Pioneer 4way 6X8's. I just need to know how to get to them. I have a convertible and am not sure if that makes a difference in how the panel has to come off or how I get to the speakers to switch them out. If someone could let me know I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

on a 98 connvertible be careful the panel does come off but its a tricky way to pull it...best bet is to remove the entire plastic panel back there to keep from breaking the clips by just removing the grill

How do you get the entire panel off? Is it just snapped down by clips or is there any special trick to removing the whole piece? It will be much easier to work with if I take the whole thing off

you need to take out the bottom part of the back seat. there are two plastic pieces under the seat between where your legs would be. Push the center in and the seat will come out. there are a couple of screws under it.

Then you can just pop off the panels from there once the screws are out?

When i changed the rear speakers, i first removed the door sill, then i just pull the panel from right behind the back seat, then it came right off since its held on by clips i believe, its not all that hard

DO NOT use those 4/5-way pieces of crap. They are all marketing. More speakers is NOT a good thing in this case. Stick with 2-ways or component speakers, period. Even if you're sticking with Pioneer.

I wouldn't put 4-way speakers in my car even if I got them for free.
