Default Best Aftermarket Navigation

I'm looking at upgrading the head unit in my 07. I'd like to go with a touch-screen nav unit. What have you found to be the best unit in terms of sound quality, picture quality and features? I'd like something that can play DVD movies as well as do Navigation.

TIA

Depends on how deep your pockets are. I'd go with a pioneer AVIC Z1 if money if you're willing to spend 2k on it. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...unit=AVIC%20Z1

alpine is tops in my book. They recently came out with the blackbird if you want to share it between cars.

The Pioneer unit seems to be better than the Alpine option for the money. Alpine's unit has a separate DVD ROM drive and between that and their biggest touch screen it's more expensive than the Pioneer. I'm just wondering about Sound Quality. Hmmm.

I didn't say alpine was the cheapest, I said it was the best. Another great thing about apline is once you put it in yer done, you will never have to pull it out unless ya want to. After installing them for a LONG time I think I have only pulled out a couple for service. I did install pioneer and could not say the same....

I used to be a professional installer and I can vouch for Alpine in terms of sound quality, but when it came to "features" and the like, they always sacrificed those for SQ, which in most cases is acceptable, but with nav and DVD, you'd want superior performance all the way around. Also, in terms of "the best", the Pioneer has a hard disk based nav system and also allows you to store mp3's etc, all in one unit, no external boxes to worry about hiding. I still have the CDA-9815 and MRV-F540 and MRDM500 from my old Mustang that I was thinking about putting in my 07, but I am thinking that a nav headunit is the way to go, with all of the traveling I do.

Actually you can buy a Alpine system for less then the pioneer AVIC-Z1
What you need is

ALPINE IVA-W200 - 1000.00
ALPINE BLACKBIRD - 700.00
ALPINE BLACKBIRD DOCK(allows the blackbird to link to the w200 touchscreen radio) - 200.00

The Eclipse GPS has been working great and it also does Sirius radio. I have been getting a bit annoyed that they haven't put out an updated mapping DVD yet. They had it up on their web site for a short time and then it vanished.

I had an eclipse in the bay last week and could not stand that annoying and super loud BEEP everytime you touch anything...
