No sound! Please Help!
Car is a 1999 Mustang Cobra. Here's the situation... The deck is working properly, which was tested. The speakers work properly, which I took apart from door and wired it short to the deck, which sound did come out. The wiring harness is connected correctly and no loose connections. The problem is that when eveything is put back together, there is no sound coming from any speaker. How do I trouble shoot if the two amps in the back are working? What do you guys suggest what could be the problem here? I'm thinking there may be a fuse to the amps that blew out that needs to be replace, but I have no knowledge where the fuse is.
Thanks guys for your help.... I hope to put some sound back in the mustang...........

you need to wire the factory amp turn on to the remote turn on from the deck. this will turn the amps on and allow them to play. If that doesn't work then check all fuses, in fact probably do that first......
ttocs, where do i check for the fuses for the amps? I'm really a newbie on this mustang audio, and also do you know color wire is the amp "turn on" for the factory amps? My gut feel is that the amps aren't turning on... Speakers work and Deck work.. But somewhere inbetween, there is something fishy...
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
If the amps are turning on then their should be an led on the amps that lights up. These lights should be on when you have the radio on. The remote wire is the wire that runs from the headunit to the amps to let them know that the headunit is on. Are you running an aftermarket deck? If so, the remote wire is usually light blue, or light blue with a white stripe. If you are running the factory deck, I do not know if there is a remote wire for you to hook onto. The fuses are usually located on one side of the amp. You will also need to check the fuse on the power wire. This is assuming the wiring was done correctly. This fuse is usually located on the power wire right by the car battery. Check and make sure that fuse isnt blown either.
There is actually an L.E.D. on the factory amp? It's an aftermarket deck that I'm putting into the existing MACH sound system. At least now I have an idea where the fuse is for the amp is. I've been searching hard to where to find the fuse for these amps. I feel the amps aren't turning on. By any chance, I know where the amp "turn on" wire is on the aftermarket deck, but I'm not sure where to connect the wire to the factory wires. Which wire on the factory wires, turn on the amps? If such a thing exist. I'm basically trying to clean up a mess of an old installation and re-wire another deck to the car.
Thanks guys for your input!!

no I think he missed the factory amp part. Did you use an aftermarket wire hrns to integrate in the factory wiring or did you cut the factory hrns and hardwire the deck? If you used a hrns it will be as simple as hooking the blue wire on the deck, to the blue, and/or blue/white wire in the hrns.
Check out page 2 of my sig, it goes over integrating into the 460. I made it a little harder then it should be to be able to use the sub output on the deck to control the bass.

ttocs,
I did follow what you had on your website. Except I didnt do the RCA output type of connection you did. I just did the simply wire to wire connect for L/R speakers for both front and rear. Is there an amp turn on for the mach 460 system?

Does he have a mach 460? I have not personally got into the dash of a 99 to see if there is a hrns inside the dash. If you look at my cardomain page 2 I am pointing at the hrns that was inside of my car. I know that they did this from 87-97 and would not be suprised if they did it on more recent models such as yours.
I recently found a local mustang club. I will have to see if there is anyone in there that would mind me poking around in their dash to see if this was still done.

ttocs,
Yes it is a Mach 460. And by looking at your pics on your cardomain, it is identical to what the 99's have to what you have. It only takes the one wide gray adapter (for power, groung, ign., etc...) and the black square plug (for speaker output). If worse come to worse, the only way that we can get this audio going is to wire lines to the speakers, which will work definitely, but will be tedius.
