Default I need help w/ Gauges

I have the 1997 factory gauges and all the lights in my dash won't light upthe head and taillights work . Any reason to why the gauges would not be lighting up?

the tail lights work? is this not normal or did you mean to say not work?

Start simple, check the fuses. CHECK ALL THE FUSES. Don't forget that there are fuses under the hood next to the battery.

Well, first make sure they aren't dimmed. I assume you checked this already and this isn't the issue, but I suggest it because my friend drove my car the other day and twisted the **** trying to turn on the lights and when i got back in the gauge lighting was all really dim/off.

After that if it's all the lights and not just one (dead bulb), then the fuses would be your best bet as ttocs said. Do any of the other interior lights (such as the lighting on the A/C controls) work when you turn on the lights or are they out too?

Nope no other interior light works and now my taillights are a little dimmer than they used to be.

No it went out again I changed the fuse and the fuse was bad but it worked and then I drove it to my girlfriends house and when i was coming back it never turned back on. So what else could it be a faulty wire or something? By the way AJ97GT Nice Mustang.[sm=smiley32.gif]

Hmm... so it worked then it stopped working again? Did it blow the fuse again? I don't know these cars off the top of my head yet but I have access to every bit of info down to wiring diagrams at home if you haven't figured anything else out by then.

And thanks I like it a lot so far.

Sounds to me like you had a bad ground, and that it finally made a good connection again. May want to check into it so it doesnt happen to you again.

see if the same fuse blew, it sounds like you illumination wire is grounding out somewhere, something is causeing the fuse to pop. This wire is located behind the radio, dash, well everywhere... Did you recently install or take anything out?
