Ok, when I bought my 98 cobra the factory CD player didn't work. U put a cd in and the play arrow comes on then it just shuts down after 30 seconds and goes back to the radio. So I bought another cd player today and the guy said it worked for him. He hasn't used it in 3 yrs but when I put it in this one did the same thing but you can hear this one spinning the CD. Once again it just died and the radio come back on. I'm trying to stay stock. Is there an issue with all stock CD players?

 

they don't like cd-r's, but otherwise no. you might try a laser lense cleaning kit.

 

yea check the format of your cd , no mp3

 

Mine has been playing CDRs since the day i started driving it. But recently mine started do this as well. Its not just burnt cds but all cds... And i mean all from friends classics to the new cd i bought last week (including everything inbetween) so yeah... Dont blame it on the CD-r's

 

ford factory radios have never been know for their longevity........
