Hi im Trigg and im new to the forums.

ok here is my issue. Iv got a 02 mustang pony with a 03 mach1 engine. now here is the real issue, i want to get rid of the 460 speakers or the entire system and replace it. I like eclipse audio alot and i also know that they require mega air. is it possible to fit 2 12" eclipse SW8200 in a the trunk, and possible 2 10" SW7200? also can i just swap out the stock speakers and put the 6x8 eclipse speakers in or do i have to rip out the stock amps too? also what type and wattage of a amp would be good to use. my head unit is already on order so thats not a issue, but i dont want to replace it entell i have the subs and stuff. any help would be greatly apresiated

putting 10's and 12's together isn't really recommended. They play a very similar range of freq's and you do not get as much out of 2 pairs of 10's and 12's as you would out of 8's and 12's, or 10's and 15's.... Make sence?

 

yes and no, but ill take ur word for it, what about being able to switch out my door and rear speakers with out ripping the amps and stuff out yet? and would u prefer a eclipse if avaiable or another brand, price isnt much of a matter but nothin really over $350.00 per sub and 12" preffered thanks for the help fellas

 

I would just get a single 12.

 

You want some boom get a single 12" or 13.5" (if you'll take the time to fit it) JL W3V3's. Or 2 of the W1V2, either setup would pound. The single sub setup is cleaner I think though. Or hell if your spending the money do 2-12W3V3's. You need to do a sealed box with that though, or make a ported on that'll take up 3/4 of your trunk.

 

the speakers can't be replaced with you removing the stock amps, i like eclipse too but have you heard audiobahn subs? got 2 10's 900 rms each they make louder, they have a 12" thats 2000 RMS i would do boston speakers with 2 of the 12" eternal series from audio bahn(i have the 10" version, prefer the 10" sound over the 12's) use a 4channel for the front and rear, and 1 mono amp for the subs

 

Eclipse is a solid company.

 

I have farted noise that sounded more musical then audiobahn/audiobling subs.

I have been impressed with both eclipse subs I have owned. I currently have an SW8122DVC with a Diamond audio D5600.1 pushing it. It is in a very small enclousre (less then .8 ft^3) so the bass it very tight and musical, but it has the excursion and power handling to produce a lot of noise if I want to bump a little.

If you are looking for great budget equipment I would also look into elemetnal designs. They are a great company and have some good equipment for a great price.

If you are going through the trouple of replacing the speakers I would definately run something round (like a 6.5) for better sound quality, and amp them with a sufficient amount of power. A new head unit would also be a nice upgrade.

Remember there is no "inherent sound quality" between sub sizes. The overwhelming majority of listneing differences in speaker sizes is the installation.

Subs play low frequencies. Every sub replays sound differently, and if you play the same low frequency note with two differnt sizes of low frequency drivers would will have overlap and elimination of certain frequency bands becuse of how the sound waves react with each other..... Basically a sub is a sub. Use any number of the same size and specifications, but it is a very poor idea to mix multiple sizes, shapes, and specification.

DD's will get louder then hell but in my opinion they leave a sliver to be desired in the SQ department.
