Hey everyone i would like to update my system with something much better.
I have the 460 right now but i want something that hits a little harder than it.
I play alot of heavy to hard rock and i don't get into the rap thing.
Would anyone know what brands and or what would be best for this kind of music?
I have never did anything with a car system so i am a noob with this stuff.
Any help at all would be awesome! I have about 3 grand to put into it. so lets keep it in that range

Lots of double bass!!!
Obviously you will need a head unit. That mainly jst depends on what features you want and what looks good to you. Now speaker I strongly suggest a decent set of component 6 1/2 or 3/4. With all that double bass....well it really isnt all bass. The initial "kick" is in more of the 80-120 hertz range, so a good set of speakers that can play mid bass will make that double bass really hit alot harder. As for a sub I would say 2 sealed 10's. Since you dont listen to rap at all you wont have alot of low frequency bass and 10's will save ya space. Now as far as my suggestions....its what I think would work out good for ya, but like always there are many many more products that will work great for ya and others with throw in some other good reccomendations im sure.

As far as a box goes...You can build your own or get a pre-fab one. Either way the box should be about 1.75 cubic foot sealed. $35-40(yourself) $60-150(prefab or someone else)
Wiring for both amps and some speaker wire is all you "need" $150-200...I would also suggest sounddeadening. $100-150
That is about $1700 max if you buy off the net and install yourself. If you buy retail and have a shop install you will probably be a tad under your limit.
