Default best speaker placement?

Hi,

I've got a 87 5.0L convt.

where is the best place to put speakers?

I know when i drive my daily driver (saturn ion), i seem to get the most sound from the
rear speakers under the rear window. It seems like the front ones are not even on,
i get so little sound from them.....

So i do not want to put speakers in the doors, bec ill probably get little sound again.

i have those stock speaker locations behind the rear quarter pannels, but they are low
also, and so probably not the best....

any suggestions.....

i was thinking on putting loud speakers in the 3.5 inch speaker holes in the dash.....
but that's a small hole/speaker size

I drive with the top down most of the time.....

help

Sounds like somethings wrong with your door speakers. You should be able to hear them. Make sure you have your BASS and TREBLE set right.

either that or just control the fade on your head unit. just fade it more to the front. if they start to distort at moderate volume there blown. or if they dont make sound at all there might be a loose connection. placement is not a big issue because of the small area of a car.

I had a 93 gt convertable and had installed a Kicker Resolution Component set and kicker 3.5 in dash. I didn't mess with the rear speakers at all. That was all the highs I needed now it set me back about $1g because they needed an amp but doing 80 with thte top down I never had a problem hearing the tunes. If you do that I would also recommend installing a good 5x7 in the rear to kick up your mids. Not much trunk space for subs but i am sure you could fit some 12's with a custom box. It all depends on what you want to spend. Don't forget to install base blockers on your 3.5's if you have an aftermarket head unit most cannot handle much power and a blown 3.5 sounds like crap.
