sub stopped working?
One of my 12" kicker compvr's stop working. i'm only running a 300 watt crossfire amp to these subs so only 150 to this sub and everything is hooked up and there is no sign from thee cone that it blew so what coul be wrong? Could it be the amp or what?
You can definitly tell by the cone, unless I'm using the wrong term. The outside part that has the you can see. Because i had mtx that blew and the cone was so tore up. But I didn't check the fus and yes the amp is turning on I have two subs and only one of them aren't working and everything is hooked up right all nice and tight.
It sounds like the sub is done for since the other is working..You usually cant tell when a sub blows by looking at the cone...Is the woofer that isnt working harder to push or makes a scratching noise when you push on it?
The first thing to do is get out your testlight and make sure everything is working correctly. Then you might try switching the amp connections between the two subs and see if the one that was working stops when connected to the wires that were going to the one that wasn't working. Same thing for the one that wasn't working. If it still looks like the amp is alright, then it is probably your sub. I agree that you can't necessarily tell the sub is blown just by looking at it. For example if you burn the voice coil up, the sub will look perfect. (Except for the fact that when you remove the sub from the enclosure and smell the electronic burnt smell that you may or may not be familiar with.) Good luck troubleshooting.
Id check the connection to that channel on your amp, it mightve just come undone. Or its grounding before it even gets to the speaker. Check the + wire for it grounding out somewhere. Also, an EASY way to check if that channel is working on the amp is by hooking up a known good speaker to it. If yo get get the amps good, if not you mightve blown that channel in the amp.

Swap your amp speaker terminals with each sub. See if then the other sub is still "dead" if it still doesn't work then yeap it's no good. If it works fine then you have an amp issue. I've seen amps just go out on one side, just right or left channel. The entire amp doesn't necessarily just go out.
Testing with lights and meters is obviously the proper way to do this but, this is alot more simple and less confusing.

Since you are running a pair of speakers: Is the amp turning on and working...did you check the RCA's to amp and back of head unit(might have come disconnected)...check speaker wires in box incase of d/c there...fuses on amp...for some very unusual reason balance/fade...trace the speakers wiring for a flaw...change speakers connection to amp incase one of the channels went?
