I am trying to get my wife an 80GB Ipod for Christmas but there seems to be like 100 different options, versions, and generations of this little Ipod b!tch. I am overseas right now, so I would have to order it online.

Where is the best place to get one and for the best price?
Is it true that I cannot download the song from my CDs and/or the ones already on my computer?

Someone told me that the only way to download songs was by going through Itunes (or some ****) or by using someone elses stored songs.

Please point me in the right direction.....................!!!!!


(P.S. - it doesnt have to be an 80GB but I would like to have at least a 30GB)

 

I download music for free all the time and I have no problem placing them in my ipod. Itunes is simply a sort of music manager thing.

As for where to buy one I'm not sure. Besides the usual overpriced retail stores you could try ebay. Plenty of sellers who have brand new in-box ipods for a good bit cheaper than retail.

 

I have also been looking at a new Ipod. I found that the Apple Ipod store direct has the best price plus free shipping. On Friday after Thanksgiving, they even gave a discout of 29-49$ plus free shipping.

 

If you've got a buddy in college, alot of colleges have deals w/ Apple and you can usually get 50-75 dollars off buying through the school
