need a system!
Hey my mom asked me to put together a stereo for my brothers car(95 trans am). I know he wants an alpine mp3 player, and a solobaric 17 12. My question is, is what amp to use? I havent put together a system in a long time, help me out here. I think the RMS on the sub is 750
Why do you want those two things, have you used them. Are you getting the exact same amp used when you heard that sub before? New Alpine decks are no where near what they were back a few years ago. They aren't easy to operate at all and theres better componenets in different brands now than back when alpine was alot better. You also need to have a better idea what you want. Everyone here will give you a different answer. Some will say Memphis, some will say JL, some will tell you Sony. Knowing what kind of music and style of sound you like, how much $$$ you have, if your doing the install, how many subs, how loud, if SQ matters. Lot of factors you need to include if you want a decent suggestion otherwise go listen to stuff and find what your ear likes not what ours do.
He wants an alpine deck because of the quick search function. I have one, and he likes it. It will be one sub, and i will be installing it. As far as decks go he is pretty flexible, he just liked the quick search thing where you can scroll through your mp3's. I have had the solobaric l7's and like them alot. SQ doesnt really matter, he jsut wants an improvement over stock, with a little bass. As far as budget were probably looking at 200-300 for the amp alone. He really listens to all kinds of music. I just dont really know what amps are powerful anymore. I run the old schol crossfire cfa30hc's at 1/2 ohm, but he doesnt really need anyhting like that.

side question, where are you planing to mount this on his T/A? if its going on that hump in the rear hatch area do NOT screw it down, the gas tank is 3/4 an inch below that, use 2 velcroe strips on the back of the amp and just stick it there

Thanks for the link, that amp will be the one! I am going to make a custom box with the sub facing straight up. The box area will be down where the t-tops store. Thanks for the advice on the amp!
