Im looking to add one subwoofer. Just one and i need it in a small box. The amp I am going to use will be the JL 500/5 . It pushes 250watts rms to the sub channel. I need the single best sub that will run well off of 250watts. I was thinking about the JL 8W7, but the box is rather large and the audio guy at a local shop said that it would need more than 250watts.

but I dont want a big heavy sub. I do want loud bass though and a single amp so everything is lighter and cleaner. Any 5 channel amps that will push a sub hard?

that amp is most like going to be best used with your door speakers, if you want good bass you need something a lot bigger.
