Default Build My System

Here we go. I'm tired of picking and choosing and trying to match up. I'll give you what I have, and you pick what you would choose, please.

Genres: Country, Rock, Pop, little Rap

HU: Sony CDXGT210

Wanting: 1 10' or 12' Sub, 1 amp, cables to and fro, 1 box to hold sub.

These will be going in the back of an 00 'stang coupe, so plan and size accordingly. I want it to sound good but not overpowering. Right now, I'm running hte factory amp to the door and rear speakers, but that will be changed in the future to provide a better sound stage. I would like JL, but other qualtiy brands are to be considered. I want to keep it in the $300-$400 range as well. Please help me out with this, and thanks!

JL 12W1 subwoofer, I would do ported but you can do sealed if you like. I suggest using a Total Mobile Audio amp. It's JL's sister company the 320.2 or 250.1 will be plenty for a single 12W1. If you want some real boom, jump up to the 13W1. Still use the same amp and box. Pick up a Total TAK4 wiring kit and you'll be set. That wiring kit comes with everything. The box i'd steer away from getting a pre-fab box, unless it's like an Atrend or a equivalent company, if you cant or dont want to make a box go to a shop and have them make one, usually it's just slightly more priced but as far as fit and quality, it's going to be way better.
12W1- $145
13W1-$180
300.2 or 250.1- $225
TAK4-$80
Box-$120

Slightly more than your budget but you want JL and it will do exactly what your looking for.

Question on that. The optimum watts show around 150 or so. How is this better than something is say.. a 10" or 12" with 400 watts? Is the sound quality just that much better? Why not get something like this for the same amount: http://www.dealtree.net/cart/select_item.cfm?cont=15772 It's a 10" pushing 300 continuous
