Default Mach 460 qeustion...

Hey everyone,....

Im sure you are all tired of hearing questions for the mach 460 sound system...but I beg of you, please read this.

I am a new mustang owner. Got an 04 Convertable about 5 months ago. I want to install a new (aftermarket) CD player intothecar so I will have an aux. input for my mp3 player. My questions are 1)If I get a CD player that outputs higher than line level (ex. 50watt x4)....will that cause my Mach speakers to blow once it hits the factory amps? Do I need to get an outputwattage reducer for each channel? 2) Will all the speakers still work (mains, tweeters, subs) once the new unit is installed. 3) Will I have the same (or better) sound quality once the new unit is installed (I like the way the Mach'slow end sounds) or has anyone felt that the newCD player will cause forless low endin thesound, andhave to buy a sub to fill sound equal to the mach original sound? I had an Explorer that I put a new CD player in. The sound was alot cleaner...but it lost alot of low end in the process.

Thanks

Rob

Hey Rob. If your system is like my '02, your cd player internal amp drives the small speakers in the corner of the window, and the small ones on the back deck (I am pretty sure, but just removed my entire system as I am replacing it all, so not exactly sure) But anyway, the amps in the trunk will not be effected by the internal amp of the new cd player. As far a blowing up the existing speakers with new cd player, you will probably be ok with 50 watts (this is probably more than stock unit) but keep an ear on them anyway. You can blow up ANY speaker with ANY amp, so pay attention to sound.

As far as low-end sound, there should be no difference really. The new cd player will sound better, but you probably wont hear it in the bass. I recommend you save some money, replace the little speakers, and get separate amp anddrive a 10" in the trunk, and remove the stock system altogether.

Good luck, the Jaz

if your deck has a variable sub output, you can wire it like mine and then you can turn the factory subs up or down, while not effecting the other speakers. page 2 of my cardomain site shows how I did it on my 94.
