Default First Installation

Looking into upgrading the system in my car, because my back right speaker is blown and the stock system doesn't give me all I want.

Have a stock non-mach system 03 v6.

Had a look around Crutchfield, and was looking at the Kenwood KDC-MP632U (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xAEVDtK...amp;I=113MP632)

Along with 4 Infinite Kappa 682.7cf's (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xAEVDtK...mp;I=1086827CF)

I plan on getting subs and an amp before summer, so I have two questions:

1. Should I run into any problems with this setup? This will be my first time setting up a car audio system.

2. Will the system sound good without the amp? If not, I'll probably end up buying the amp with it and which amp is a good choice (would not like to spend the money right now, but am willing)?

The system should sound fine without the amp, just not alot of kohnies (< is that spelled rite?) Anyway, when you pick up an amp and subs, the rule I live by is buy as much power as you can afford. You can always turn the gain down on amp if needed, but you can't turn it up if it isn't enough.

I would suggest togo with separate amps for subs and satellites. If your budget dictates, go with amp for satellites and hold off on subs for now. That way, you will get that nice upgrade in sound later and have enough volume for now.

Just a little bump. Got a little bit more money than originally thought, so I WILL be picking up an amp.

With the above setup, what kind of amp would be best? Looking to spend around $150 (I know, not allot for an amp). I'm mainly looking for clarity, people being able to hear my car down the block is not as important to me as them figuring out which song it is.

And I'll be doing this all by myself, isntead of bringing it somewhere, just as a learning experience. Is there anything special I need to hook up an amp to four speakers and an aftermarket HU? (I took 2 years of computer repair and a year of electronics, but I'm a complete noob at how stereo systems work).

hardest part of any instal is just runnin the wires, takin stuff apart and putting them back. Page 2 of my sig shows how to put a deck into a mach system. Your removal and installation should be the same with less wiring to mess with. If you know some computer and electrical stuff it should not be too hard as mustangs are cake for audio systems. Door panels are not too bad to take off butI would probably recommend havin somebody put in the rear speakers. you will need to take everything out from the back of the doors to the back window if I am not mistaken. Take a look inside your trunk to make sure you can't take them out from there but I am pretty sure you need to remove them from inside the car.

Although not bad, you could do much better then the mentioned system.

Instead of 6x8's all around buy a single set of 6.5 componentsfor the front, and power them with around 100 watts per side.

Take your back speakers out and throw them away.

Buy a sub with around 3-400 watts rms.

Buy a large 4 channel amp and get plenty of power and good sound.

Think I just might buy everything and let a shop do it, this is looking complicated as !@#$%.

Now I'm very electronically inclined, but almost everything about car audio escapes me.

So go with an aftermarket HU, 2 component speakers in the kicker panels, use the subs as my back speakers, and wire everything together with an amp. Basically using the components as the mid and high, and the sub(s) being the low, correct?

Now, what do I need to install the component speakers into the stock kicker panel? Extra wire, a harness, etc?

I tried googling a couple times to see how everything worked, but have yet to find something that worked for me.

I had less trouble learning how an engine works (from not knowing ANYTHING) than trying to piece this all together .

Thanks x 1000 to whoever has and will help me on my adventure.

if your going through crutchfield there's not a hole lot to worry about, they have great customer tech that'll walk you through everything. they also send everything you need to hook stuff up like, harnass', any installation templates and easy to follow instructions.

I would place the front comps in the facorty speaker locations. That is the easiest front install. Car audio is not hard and shops charge a ton for installation.

I'm going to go ahead with the system you prescribed. Talked to everyone I know who knows electronics says it probably is the best way to go, and this setup will only cost $100 more than what I had originally picked out (very nice for getting an amp and sub with it also).

When I get everything in the mail, I'm having a buddy come over and we're both gonna make my girlfriend hate me and use up a whole Saturday. Gonna take it nice and slow, take care not to mess everything up, and hopefully make my car sound 100x more better when it rolls by.

I plan on taking some pictures throughout the day, along with a before and after video (playing different kinds of music on my current stock system, and after the installation).

Thanks again everybody, especially PReal. And your right, it really isn't THAT bad, I was just looking at everything at once.
