Default Electrical problem - starter relay

I need help. 1999 Mustang Cobra. When I turn my key to ON, it takes 30 seconds for the dash display lights to light up, I do not hear the fuel pump (versus normally all the accessories immediately light up in the On position ). When I turn the key to Start, the starter only clicks, and I keep blowing the starter relay FOAB 4B192-AA in the power junction box on the left side of the engine bay. No fuses appear to be blowing. After this, there is no power anywhere unless I replace therelay. Any clues to this problem????

My Escort did that. It was a bad battery. My mustang has also when I had a junk Interstate battery, and a battery relocation done, and my alarm was making a constant pull so it would drain the battery after like 4 days, but if I started it within three it did the same problem as your having. Also like I said my escort did it, replaced the battery with one of those cheap Duralast batterys and, no problems since. Not electrical related atleast...

I disagree with seight. Blowing a relay is an electrical issue, but hard to believe it is a battery. The starter will usually click or try to engage, but can't imagine how relay would be harmed. I am not sure why delay to accessories are slow to come on, but relay damage ismay related to the starter motor itself. The only thing that doesn't make sense, is the starter motor is not "engaged" until you turn the key all the way. Since you describe that the key is only in the "on" position, and slow accessories, this is a bit of a quandry. The odds of having two separate electrical issues at the same time is very unlikey.

Hopefully someone else canadd some more info for you.

Good luck. Jaz
