Ive got a sub and amp setup and all the wires are run. The problem is that with the rca's connected to the amp stays at a constant low volume. Ive tried messing with the HU controls and they do nothing. When i connected the amp through speaker wire the volume control worked. Is there something im missing? Ive tested the amp, sub, and all other connections. I checked the wiring on the back of the HU also. Suggestions?
The HU is a panasonic with xm hooked up. I am installing a sub/amp in the trunk in a box. Other than those items the rest of the system is stock mach 460 parts.
That actually is the only thing i messed with on the amp controls itself. I tried to turn the bass up on the HU it self also to try and get some more sound out of it. There is also a "Bass EQ' **** and a "Gain" ****. Should i change these settings?
looking at the Amp controls and seeing the Bass Eq, that most likely means that this controls the low pass filter of the amplifier. If the measurement on this control are in Hz then that is what it is. The Gain control is going to determine how much the amplifier actually amplifies the signal. I am not sure of the amps or the subs. With the stereo on, turn the Bass Eq to about 120hz and then slowly start to turn up the gain. Also, some amplifiers have a switch to switch between low level inputs and speaker level imputs, with the RCAs you want to be on low level input.
