Amp/ Speaker Install...Help!
Hey guys I have a 2000 mustang gt with the mach 460.When i bought the car it came with a rockford fostgateamp and 2-10" JL audiosubs, that are in the trunk with the amp wire (blue) going to cd player's amp wire and then the rca's to cd player and the ground is grounded and the power wire is to battery just like on a normal vehicle. They barely hit right now, i would like to knowhow to wire it all up the right wayto have the mach 460 working along with the set in trunk. Thanks in advance...
The whole system is setup properly but not for the stock mach system. I have heard that you have to tap into the mach system in the trunk to the data wire connector. I was just wondering if anyone on here has a car with the mach 460 and a set of subs in the trunk and how they are getting them both to work.
your problem is probably that they are still using the stock amps and mach system for everything but the subs. What happens is that the stock mach amps are gained so high that when they are maxed out and starting to distort, your sub amp is only warmed up(even with the gain all the way up right?). Luckily this is an easy thing to fix, you need to bypass the stock amps and it is cake in mystangs. See page 2 of my signature, you need to find the hrns that I am pointing to in your dash and wire your decks front speaker outputs to it, rather then the other hrns that WAS plugged into the stock deck. Go to a local auto part store($10) or audio store($15-20 for the same thing) and get a standard for radio hrns(70-1770). Wire the white to white, green to green, grey to grey(it is that easy, you should be able to catch the rest) and plug it in. Other then now needing to turn the amp gain down to 2/3-3/4 max volume you are done.
