Hows this audio setup look?
I have an 89' convertible. As of now I added door speakers, replace the rear quarter panel ones and replaced the dashboard one's.
Head - Pioneer DEH-3770MP
Dash - JVC 3 1/2"
Doors - Pioneer 6" ?? 180w 3 ways
Rear quarters - Sony Xplod 6" ? 120w
New equipment:
Sony Xplod 1000w 2 channel amp
2x Pioneer TS-W251R 10" subs
Now, I already removed my rear seat and was planning a MDF delete. I then got two Pioneer subs for Christmas and a Sony Amplifier.
Heres my rear seat as of now:

Heres a bad Photoshop of what I want to do:

I want two seperate boxes for the subs, ported. How does this setup look??

I got it for Christmas. A friend of mine has the smae subs in seperate boxes with the same amp in his 92' Mercedes 300E and it sounds killer.
They are cheap components but they will get the job done.

I guess you really don't need our opinions.
I would put both subs in the same ported box to prevent any possible cancelations of slightly offphase waves for slightly different box sizes.

As far as equipment goes, your budget is obviously fixed... The install will suck in a 'vert though.. VERY high profile and easy to steal.
The key with convertibles is to get the sound as close to the people as possible (so it plays to the people and not the world) .You're on the right track in that regard, but your stuff is gonna get stolen.
If it was me, I'd build the rear seat delete/box with downward firing subs, to use the floor as a loading board, and put them in small sealed enclosures. Then run a ton of power so you can hear it.
Cancelation won't be as much of an issue in this arrangement if you devide the two cavities at the floor. You'll essentially be building a bandpass using the floor as the second chamber.
All that being said... Systems in convertibles are just not a great idea. As much as I love car audio, my drop top Jeep is bone stock and never parked with the doors locked (I like my top).

My only cancellation issues are going to deal with his more then likely inexperienced box building skills.
