Where the HELL do I feed the amp power cord through? I know I feed it through the firewall, but where?

Theres a circular rubber lookining thing (which I can't get the rubber part off), and a rectangular hole beneath it. I'm pretty sure the circular rubber port goes to the inside of the car where the pedeals are located?

I have a 2003 V6.

I had detailed pictures of where the best place is because it takes way to long to descibe it, i'll look, dont hold your breath though. Theres a grommet that is (if your wedged inside you drivers side floor) down and slightly to the left of your steering shaft, to the right and slightly up from your fuse box. On my car is a good size grommet i could prolly fit the most part of my hand through it from what I remember, I easily fed 1/0 ga through it. Hope that helps a little but I am looking for all this information I typed up about a year ago to make a sticky in here for commonly asked question but i dont know where I saved it and what computer I saved it on....

You know what, just forget it.

I'm sick of messing with this god damned ****. I've been working since yesterday 1:30 pm and I'll got hooked up right so far is the god damned head unit.

Even with the amp power terminal connected, and the fuse in place, I still yet to see a power LED on when the car is powered on.

I don't know if I'm blowing fuses, or what. I've got the power cable fed through, and my car is all torn apart from running wires and hooking up stuff.

I'm so sick of dealing with it, it was a complete waste of my time. I'm making an appointment to have it pro installed tomorrow. My girlfriend was gonna buy me a Wii for valtentines day, so now I think I'll just have her pay for this.

I don't even care.

Im sure ill get some **** for this but drill a hole just a bit bigger than cable. Run wire...seal around the cable. Problem solved if you dont mind drilling. I was an installer for 2 years and thats what we did if there wasnt a good gromet to go through.

I just keep telling myself its a learning experience....

Now, I have my subs hooked up to my amp on channel 3 and 4.

I have my power wire connected.

I have my turn-on lead connected.

I have my ground hooked up to the elbow that raises the trunk.

Now, when I turn my radio on, the amp powers up. The symbol on top of the amp lights up, and the "protection" light powers up.

I have checked both fuses on the amp, both were fine. Fuse on the in-line from the battery was also fine.

However, the amp will not output anything, and the blue LED that is supposed to come on displaying normal function will not come on.

The only thing that I can think of is the stripping of my wire. I stripped it down to much, and any excess bare wire not actually "in" the amp is probably touching the outside of the amp, could this cause the short?

Amp is a Visonik V418XT 4-Channel. And yes, I know Vis isn't the best, but I'm not looking for the best, my friend has the exact same amp and sub combo and it sounds just fine to me.

And if I do need to re-strip, what the hell can strip 4 awg?

EDIT: Just cut and re-stripped everything (god DAMN 4 awg is hard to strip), everything is perfect, no bare wire strands are sticking out of the amp sockets, and everything is secured. I have no idea whats wrong .

Think I'd rather bump this, then make a new post, just a quick Q.

I have 2 10' SVC 4 ohm subs. I have them each hooked up to channels 3 and 4 on the amp. The amp says that it can output 125w x 4 at 4 ohms, 250w x 4 at 2 ohms, and 500w x 2 bridged at 4 ohms.

What I was wondering is, how do I hook up the 2 subs to channels 3 and 4 while they are bridged. Do I just hook up both positives and negatives into the postive of chan 3 and the neg of chan 4? Will that work?

Right now I'm pretty sure they are both only getting 125w apiece, and would like them to get to their full potential (they are 250w RMS rated), and get the 250w.

so do you have it working yet? if not unhook your rca cables and your speaker wires and see if it still goes into protect, if so then redo your ground, get a self tapping sheet metal screw and scratch off the paint where you ground it at. as far as the amp im gonna assume its not 2ohms stable since its a pos 4 channel, so if you bridge on two channels you only have two wireing options 2ohms or 8ohms since you have 2 4ohms subs. The amp will run fine at 8ohms but will put out low power if you run it at 2 ohms it will probably cut on and off and blow. so youll have to use both rear channels wired normally for those subs. I also assume your useing the front two channels for you speakers if you werent you could bridge each sub to two seperate channels.

Over on 3.8mustang.com we have lots of audio guru's and shop ownere like myself normally a stereo question doenst go more than a day without a right answer fell free to ask over there im on every day.

Check that your ground is good. I know that was one easy thing that my manual said about my amp. It said that if the ground was bad the protaection light would come on. Might want to check it. It's simple and quick.
