Amp is shutting down to protect itself.

Disconnect the bass **** all together and if you need that much more bass adjust you preout on your head unit or the gain on your amp. Those things should be called Distortion *****, not Bass *****.

we need to know what subs and amp you have and how it is wired before we could give any good advise of what to do.

+1, and you should never have the gain all the way up, EVER! If you need to have it that high your amp is too small.

Not with that suggestion! That goes for any and all amplifiers.
And yes if you have to have everything all the way up and your not getting what you want you need a bigger amp, since your 1200-watter is really only doing 300-400 maybe.
