Default Where the hell....2!!

Jesus this whole things been a god damned mess.

Putting in my component speakers now, and been having MAJOR troubles (what else is new?).

They are Polk 6500s, and I was told the woofer would fit in factory speaker location. WRONG. Had to wing that a little, and got it in, but it is only held on by two screws instead of four, although its very secure.

Then, trying to figure out where to mount my crossover. Where the HELL do I mount this where it won't get crushed or get in the way once the inner part of the door is put back on?

The tweeter I am just surface-mounting because I want all this installed, I don't really know if everything has really been worth it.

Have an 03 Non-Mach Coupe.

I mounted my crossovers behind the kick panels. They work out fine there.

X2, mount your crossovers in the kicks and run another wire through the grommet for your tweets.

Did you build or buy a set of adapter plates for the 6.5's? That is always part of the install of round speakers into a car with oval openings. If you didn't they will not sound good with a gaping hole next to the driver.

No, you'd think Crutchfield would have sent me speaker adaptors, but they didn't .

I think what I'm going to do is mount the crossovers under the dash.

I didn't know they would fit behind the kick panels?

I have mounted some under the dash of a civic and that worked fine also.

Crutchfield should have sent you adapters. You can order some, or make your own out of hdf (high densityfiberboard). Walmart has some $.99 clipboards that make great adapters for 6x8's. Trust me, if used them.

Just checked it out when I got home tonight.

I'm gonna mount both crossovers under the dash (each side obviously), and run the woofer and tweeter wires through the grommet (MUCH easier than trying to fit my 14 AWG speaker wire) to the crossover.

Ordered two adaptor plates off of ebay.

I'll probably mount the crossovers and tweeters tomorrow, along with run the cable to my trunk to the amp (gonna hook everything up that I can except to the amp). So when I finally get the brackets in, its just popping my crappy stock speaker out and fitting the woofer in.

Thanks PReal, been a tremendous help during all of this.

Ordered my adaptors on sunday night, got them today. VERY impressed at the speed in which I got it.

Unfortunately, I probably won't have time to install them this weekend, but NEXT weekend....

Polks your MINE.

Can't wait, my bass is deep and pounding, but my mids and highs are..well...how do I put this....stock-sounding heh.
