Default speaker & stereo help

ok so i got my sub and my amp for free, my friend got a new system and he just gave me his old amp and sub, the sub and amp are good. But i recently got it all rewired and set up and got my two 6x9's in the back wired to the amp so my system was alot louder, and it all worked at first, but recently the 6x9's been popping i dont know what it is, maybe if their too old or something. Does anyone know what that popping is?? And today i was getting it real bad i just turned off my system and then my dash started to smoke :/ dannnnggg itt.....

im thinking that a wire got too hot and started to burn,

but i dont know any ideas???

How did you rewire everything? It sounds like you might have a bridged headunit.

Who rewired it? I would pray a shop would have done the job right. I would take it back and explain the smoking to get them to fix it.
