i am trying to install a 400 watts RMS amp.
what GA do i need?
4 or 8?
a lot of the 8 GA kit on ebay state that they are good up to 300 Watts.

mine amp is 400W RMS or 800W peak.

please help..

depends on how honest that 400 watts is.......

either way if you think you might ever upgrade and add power then throw in the 4 awg and get the job done the first time.

Thats what I did. I'm only running 200w RMS to my sub but I used 4gauge wire so I could upgrade later if i want to.

use 4 gauge that eight gauge amp is good for 300 max not rms so go wit 4 gauge

1/0 on everything, even your subwoofer wiring.

Unless you want to be a ***** and do things right then use 4 gauge.
